Week 3 Fast Devotional
A House of Prayer
Series: Family Begins With God
Theme: Prayer is not a last resort; it is our first response.
Purpose: To establish prayer as a natural, daily rhythm in our homes and to realign our families with God’s peace and presence.
Matthew 21:13 (NKJV) — “My house shall be called a house of prayer.”
Day 15 — Our House, God’s Presence
Scripture (NKJV):
Matthew 21:13
“My house shall be called a house of prayer.”
Devotional Thought
Jesus was not merely correcting the temple—He was clarifying God’s intention. God desires dwellings marked by prayer, dependence, and reverence. When prayer becomes normal in the home, God’s presence becomes tangible.
Prayer
“Father, we dedicate our home to You. Let our house be marked by prayer, not pressure, and by faith, not fear.”
Day 16 — Prayer Before Reaction
Scripture (NKJV):
Philippians 4:6–7
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God…”
Devotional Thought
Prayer is how anxiety is exchanged for peace. God never intended families to carry burdens alone. Prayer invites God into situations before emotions take over.
Prayer
“Lord, teach us to pray before we react. Replace anxiety in our home with Your peace.”
Day 17 — Calling on the Lord Together
Scripture (NKJV):
Jeremiah 33:3
“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things…”
Devotional Thought
God responds to families who call on Him together. Prayer is not just communication—it is an invitation for God to move beyond what we can see or control.
Prayer
“God, we call on You today. Open our eyes to what You are doing in and through our family.”
Day 18 — Humble Hearts, Healed Homes
Scripture (NKJV):
2 Chronicles 7:14
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray…”
Devotional Thought
Healing begins with humility. God restores families when hearts are surrendered. Prayer realigns pride, confession restores intimacy, and obedience invites renewal.
Prayer
“Father, we humble ourselves before You. Heal what is broken in our home and restore what has drifted.”
Day 19 — Praying Without Ceasing
Scripture (NKJV):
1 Thessalonians 5:16–18
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks…”
Devotional Thought
Prayer is not limited to moments—it is a posture. When prayer becomes continual, God becomes central in everyday life.
Prayer
“Lord, help us live with a constant awareness of You. Teach us to pray in every moment.”
Day 20 — Asking According to His Will
Scripture (NKJV):
1 John 5:14–15
“If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”
Devotional Thought
Prayer aligns our hearts with God’s will. As we fast, our desires become clearer and our prayers become more focused on what honors Him.
Prayer
“God, align our prayers with Your will. Shape our desires so we ask for what pleases You.”
Day 21 — A Lifestyle of Prayer
Scripture (NKJV):
Luke 11:9–10
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
Devotional Thought
Prayer is not a season—it is a lifestyle. As this week closes, God invites us to continue asking, seeking, and trusting Him beyond the fast.
Prayer
“Father, let prayer remain a priority in our home beyond this fast. Keep our hearts dependent on You.”
Weekly Family Practice
